Stephen Gerard Szaro Sr.

Stephen Szaro, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2025.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Claudette (nee Carroll), with whom he shared many cherished years, by his parents, Stephen S. Szaro and Marion (nee Guzzy) Szaro, and his sister-in-law Betty Ann Szaro.

Stephen leaves behind his loving son, Stephen Szaro, Jr., and his wife, Lauren (Goodhart), as well as his four treasured grandchildren—Stella, Grace, Ryan, and Claire—who were the light of his life. Known affectionately as “Dziadzi,” he adored his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in spending time with them.

He is also survived by his sister, Diane Kowalski and her husband, John, and his brother, Wayne Szaro, Sr. and his wife, Sharon, along with many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Stephen will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and devotion to his family. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Thursday August 21st, 2025, at Dzikowski, Pierce and Levis funeral home, 24-32 East 19th St Bayonne, NJ, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John Paul II RC Church, 39 East 22nd Street, on Friday August 22nd at 10:30am with all welcome to gather at the funeral home starting at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.
